Washington Nationals Win 5-2, Continue Home Streak with 12, Still #1

The Washington Nationals confidently jumped ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays tonight in the first inning, giving pitcher Livan Hernandez a hand with a two run lead. The Nats increased their lead to four in the third inning and went on to win the game, 5-2.

RFK Stadium was one of only a handful of stadiums in Major League Baseball tonight that hosted a team from far away. In this weekend of interleague play the New York Mets visited Yankee Stadium. Oakland hosted their neighbors from across the San Francisco Bay. The Chicago White Sox played the Chicago Cubs, and Los Angeles saw the Angels and Dodgers battle. Toronto was originally scheduled to visit Montreal, until the Expos made their exodus from Canada last winter to become Washington’s summer “home team,” the Washington Nationals.
