DCBC’s Bear Invasion Turns Ten

For the second time in five years, winners of the D.C. Bear and D.C. Bearcub titles (from the first annually-held Bear contest in the country, according to DCBC’s website) will hold on to their sashes for a year and a half. The winners of the District of Columbia Bear Club’s “D.C. Bear and D.C. Bearcub 2005″ contest, D.C. Bear Tim Woody and D.C. Bearcub Jake Enger, will hold their titles until Bear Invasion next invades in the spring of 2007. The contest was held Saturday, November 5, 2005, during the Bear club’s weekend Bear Invasion X “run.”

The 2001 D.C. Bear and D.C. Bearcub held their titles for a year and a half when the contest and its titles were moved from Highwaymen TNT’s final Bearfest in May of 2001 to DCBC’s Bear Invasion in November 2002. DCBC held the “Mr. DC Bear Invader” and “Cub Invader” contest during the November event from 1996 until 2001.

The 2005 event marks DCBC’s tenth Bear Invasion, raising funds this year for Metro TeenAIDS, Pets-DC, and The Sexual Minority Youth Assistance League (SMYAL).

My photos for the weekend are being considered by A Bear’s Life magazine for publication. I will be publishing more photos from the weekend here after coordinating with the publishers of A Bear’s Life.
