An Evening on the Mall to Honor World War II Veterans

Ken Burns introduces scenes from his PBS documentary “The War” to an audience on the National Mall who have gathered in honor of World War II veterans, Saturday, September 29, 2007.

Army Master Sergeant Jose “Joe” Ramirez, who fought in the South Pacific in World War II, is presented a certificate of appreciation from the U.S. Army.

Marine Cpl. Robin Gehman, Sgt. Eric Dewhirst, and Sgt. Ken Ebo and the Quantico Marine Corps Band watch scenes from “The War” as they wait to perform.
