Steven Page at Ships and Dip III

Barenaked Ladies singer Steven Page performs Tuesday, January 29, 2008, with a pair of pink panties thrown by a fan in his pocket. The photo is from a continuing series of images from rock-and-roll cruise “Ships and Dip III,” hosted by Barenaked Ladies.

Page was arrested early Saturday morning, July 12, 2008, for possession of cocaine. Page was caught by police with the drug while in the Manlius, NY, home of his girlfriend, Christine Benedicto, with whom he had an argument earlier that evening.

As an “old-school” fan of the band, I just want to add that I never expect BNL members to be anything but human. “Barenaked Ladies Are Men,” after all. Everyone has uncontrollable times in their life at some point, and when needed, friends should be there to help. As a fan, I offer my strongest support for Steve right now. His depth and complexity is what makes him who he is, so this certainly isn’t something that will damage my opinion of him or BNL. Keep rocking, Steve. Get through this and tell us your story.
