<p>According to a recent <a href="http://www.wmata.com/chat/transcript.cfm?ChatID=15">LunchTalk online chat</a>, The Washington Metro Area Transit Authority is installing new LED platform edge lights in a pilot program to help reduce energy consumption and track service times. METRO is also hoping to see a safety benefit if the red and amber lights act as a warning to keep commuters away from the platform edge.</p>
