I’d like to thank the viewers of Washington Photo Journal over the last couple of years as I’ve put together a collection of images from myself and some good photographers out there. One of the main reasons for doing this was to self-assign events and news in order to build a portfolio of work. This work has led to me being the first (and as of now only) syndicated photographer of LGBT images with Q Syndicate, the nation’s leading provider of content for LGBT publications, covering Washington, D.C.

Truth is, WaPhoJo has felt limiting, as it’s supposed to be more about Washington than about me. I can’t properly cover this city by myself, nor do I have the resources to assemble a team a photographers to do it. WaPhoJo evolved from Joe Tresh’s Washington. Joe Tresh’s Washington was easier to frame because it was about my point of view. But it was still about Washington, so it kept me from posting a lot of model, personal or travel images.

So in order to focus more on what I am doing - which, besides LGBT news images, recently has been a lot of nightlife photography - I am starting a new blog at my home site. I’m not giving it a fancy name or trying to be anything other than what it is: Joe Tresh Photography’s Blog. The address is www.joetresh.com/blog. It’ll be about me and what I’m seeing through the view of my camera, which includes this city, LGBT images, personal travel images, nightlife images, my own selection of models, firefighter images, police images, and maybe a few of the cat (sorry). I’ve installed a very nice professional template, which is a vast improvement over the navigation here at WaPhoJo. So please come over, bookmark the RSS, and enjoy when I update.

Every Sunday from mid afternoon until late in the evening at Meridian Hill Park in Washington DC, a large group of dancers, drummers, and the occasional tightrope walker or hula hooper gather to participate in what can best be described as a human circus. According to the most common version of the origin of the circle, it can be said that it started as a way to celebrate the life of Malcom X after his death in 1965.
